Adam Reid

Areas of work

Adam qualified as a solicitor in 2001. He trained with the large commercial firm Hammonds before opting to move into the field of Immigration law.

Adam has a wide variety of experience in all aspects of business and private immigration work including Tiers 1, 2 & 4 of the Points Based System, EEA nationals and family based applicants.

Adam has an excellent record representing clients in the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in both in-country and entry clearance matters. He also has extensive experience of Judicial Review applications to the High Court.

Adam provides immigration advice to a number of commercial law firms in London.

Recent examples of work

Adam has recently been involved in overturning a number of Points Based System appeals including Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4 appeals. The Home Office have been refusing applications on minor evidential grounds such as applicants not submitting original bank statements or not having sufficient maintenance for a short period. Adam has made submissions to Immigration Judges and argued that the Tier 1 requirements are being interpreted too strictly. He has had many successes in the Tribunal and was involved in the group of cases that successfully challenged the 3-month maintenance rule.

The Home Office are currently refusing a lot of Tier 1 entrepreneur and family settlement applications and Adam is working on a number of these cases. Adam has also sometimes successfully been able to introduce new elements into these appeals such as long residence, enabling a client to not only win their appeal but to gain indefinite leave to remain.

Areas of work

Lisa qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and has worked in the Immigration field for over 12 years. She was employed as a Senior Immigration Solicitor and Supervisor at Lawrence Lupin Solicitors for over 4 years before joining us as a Partner. Prior to that, she worked at Clore and Co solicitors, a reputable firm specializing in Immigration and Human Rights.

Following an Independent Peer Review of Lisa’s work in April 2008, the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies validated the LSC’s finding that “This was a very impressive set of files, demonstrating a high level of knowledge and expertise”. They went on to say: “In all cases, the supplier (Lisa) added real value to the client’s case, following up every aspect of their matter and providing consistently high quality advice and assistance. In particular, the files of PB and AF demonstrate how an experienced fee earner can completely transform a case, which others may well have dismissed as hopeless”.

Lisa has extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of business and private Immigration Law and also Human Rights Law. She specialises in complex immigration appeals and applications to the High Court and Court of Appeal in matters ranging from deportation and damages for unlawful detention to Points Based System Migrants (Tiers 1, 2 & 4) and family entry Clearance matters. She is currently recognized for her work on a number of high profile High Court cases including PB (Cameroon) [2008] EWHC 364 (Admin) and SK [2008] EWHC 98 (Admin).

Lisa is in charge of our Points Based System updates programme. She has given seminars to businesses and organisations on how the frequent changes to the system will affect individuals and businesses. Entry Clearance Appeals
Decisions of Embassies and BHCs overseas sometimes fail to fairly consider an individuals case. Refusals over the last few months have often been on maintenance grounds on the basis of minor issues with documents.

We have an excellent record of overturning unfair decisions made by Entry Clearance Posts.
